Hello everyone, my name is Cody I am 33 yrs young and am new to the NCKA. I am a SoCal native that has found a home in the East bay (Livermore). My personal fishing experience ranges from long range salt water trips to Southern waters catching Pelagic game fish to small lake fishing. So after moving up here I have tried to find a fun way to target what the Bay Area has to offer, fishing wise and found that Kayaks were a great way to reach the majority of species offered here.
I am currently setting up my new to me 2017 Hobie Outback and am anxious to start this new journey. Still I am planning on finding a lake or something calm to practice my tip overs and other safe practices before hitting the big blue.
Like I stated above, I am new to kayak fishing and if anybody has words of wisdom I am all ears! Thanks again, Cody. 🤙

Welcome Cody!  Definitely lots to learn here.  You came to the right place.  Get your safety gear on the yak then go crazy with all the other stuff you can outfit it with.

Hi Cody, I would recommend take some kayaking classes to lean the basics.

I'm a former SoCal fisherman → Bay Area transplant as well.
Welcome!
Sounds like you got a great setup. I just bought a new Outback as well. Lakes are the best place to learn. Not sure which makes are open nearby except Berryessa though!
