Alameda Rock Wall

I drive by ARW often  on my way to work. It looks like they are installing a gate at the entrance to the parking area.

Hopefully it won’t be locked but the wall itself has had lots of people on it fishing since the shelter in place order went into effect.

I should add. It’s not a gate but a 6 foot high fence.

Are you saying the new fence is blocking off the parking lot ?

Was just there. Looks like they’re just replacing the gate.

As of this morning, the parking lot is open.  However, the fence was being installed at the entrance, maybe 30-40 feet off Central Avenue, and will allow the City of Alameda to close the boat launch and rock wall. 

I live and work in Alameda and frequently stop by the parking area on my way to/from work so I can watch the boats and relax for a few minutes.  I've been surprised at the number of people fishing from the rock wall during the shelter in place.  Its looked pretty crowded on some of the nicer days.  It won't surprise me if the gate gets locked to keep people from accessing the rock wall. 

I will try to keep checking and post an update if I see it gets locked. 

Did there used to be a fence there?  Honestly, I never noticed it if there was one.

If so they’ve done it to themselves, bunch of stupid asses. I hope those who not only ignored SIP but encouraged others to do so realize this. But it dawns on me that these jackwagons will only come to Sonoma and Marin Counties.

Lets not forget that there are lots of family and family members getting out. Just because people are close together doesn't automatically mean people aren't following SIP orders. 

Update on gate. They replaced the old one with new. The only sign is about open and close times: nothing about permanent closure
