Solo skiff or Skanu

I was wondering if anyone has purchased one of these in the area?

I was eyeing on a Solo. I might pull that trigger on one too. Fit all the bill on calm to decent weather in the ocean.

Solo skiff looks intriguing, but I’ve got a couple serious concerns.

1) Center of gravity looks VERY high, and it looks like you’re basically perched on top of a hard, smooth, flat surface. Seems like you’d get tossed into the drink very easily in anything but calm conditions.

2) If (when) your motor dies, can you paddle that thing fast enough to overcome a stiff headwind and chop?

Hey Chet,  what kayak do you have now?  I’ve been talking to some people and they say my motor for my AI may be too slow..

Might want to pm Ariel. I think he has experienced one on the ocean. Hopefully he might have some feed back as to how they handle on the ocean.

They launch those out on the surf along the Gulf Coast..   Solo Skiff,, very stable.

I would rock one of those if i hadnt run out of storage at home.
