thinking of starting to save all my ling skulls. Any one on here do that? Tips for cleaning them off? Thought it'd be pretty cool to have 40 years of ling skulls when I am old and kicking back

I had the same thought.... i recently saw a video of a guy who buried a fish head under a tomato plant and the plant grew very well and at the end of the season he dug the head up and it was a perfectly cleaned/odorless skull. Im trying that with a couple heads this year under some plants

Yep,
I’ve done that.
I remember when I was a kid in  MN  people with Pike skulls on their barn or shed, so......
This is my biggest Ling @ 37.5 in.
What I did was to trim the cheeks and other meaty stuff,
Put in a box and put  a shit ton  of salt and Boraxo all over it, stuck it in my shed for 2-3 months(summertime)
Then chip and clean off all the white stuff off and Presto ,
 a mummified Ling Skull!

Now all we have to do is get the green light to go fishing and u can make ur own! Hopefully in a month or so!

Stay safe

Well preserved Scotty, did those eyeballs mummify as well?  Was that skull lookin’ at me?  Some of the skulls are white and glossy?  Bleach?  Varnish?
“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”

That is awesome. Yea my thought was to just bury them for a couple months then dig them back up. The fishing hasn't shut down completely here in Central California... just saying  :smt002
