FWIW - I was out at Linda Mar the Sunday before T-giving and another yakker that was out claimed to have seen whitey that day, but that is second hand info. Hadn't heard about the incident at Bean Hollow in August. Everyone be safe out there.

Cheers,
Brad

Was the knock on the bow or stern? My first thought is that it is not an attacking shark (which would be more aggressive with some staying time).  'love to hear a little more.

I have no idea what's it was. It wasn't an aggressive huge hit. I was stationary in the water in a 10 foot tarpon. It seemed to come from the stern. When I landed in the water I quickly realized that my pots that were sitting behind me had somehow flown over my legs and I was all tangled up in line.  I untangled the line righted the boat and climbed back on.  Pulled the potd back in and went on my way.  Never saw anything after that.  The only wildlife I saw all day were porpoise.

Thanks for the follow up, 'glad you are OK.   My guess is that it came because it was attracted to your yak.  I would say a whale, but typically you hear them coming due to their noisy breathing spouts.  I would also gander a guess that if it's a seal, it will stick around to see what it can steal (I am yet to see a seal that only circle once).  I would say either a dolphin or a shark, but a curious one.

We also saw dolphins after our shark sighting.  It's kind of what made everyone feel better and we were back to fishing.  I've seen dolphins everytime I go out there to check my crab traps.  Oh btw, crabbing in HMB is pretty good!
