Happy Spring folks. Took my kayak out and launched out of Sherman lake marina trying to catch . Threw a white chatterbait + chartreuse swimbait trailer all around a large flat but especially the tule-lined islands. Caught a nice 2 - 3 lb bass this way.

I also threw a spoon a little bit in the deep channels (30 + feet) but really didn't mark any fish on the FF there. Other fishermen reported catching a few small stripers but I personally didn't see a striper brought into another boat. My intuition tells me that since it was so sunny and the tide was so low, not many stripers were out on the flats eating, and the ones that were were skittish. Let me know your thoughts on this.

Around 6pm while i was heading in i saw a big splash and threw the chatterbait there. Bam! Hit really hard - definitely a striper - but came off :(

If y'all have any advice my ears are open. What are your thoughts on covering more water vs conserving energy? What are some other baits that work well for these super weedy flats?

Time fished - 3 - 6 pm
Location - Sherman Lake - see attachment
Weather - sunny
Wind - almost none
Water clarity - meh

I launched there last weekend with the boat, not kayak.  Fished just north of the ramp on the Sacramento.  I went through 2 bags of sardines catching shakers.  Couldn't find a keeper.  Hopefully the Stripers will be starting their migration north soon.
