Hi Guys,

I been fishing Lexington for about two weeks.  After work and weekends.  It was windy today.  I just took a look at the water.

Been fishing the side near Hwy 17 and Bear Creek Road.  You need a downrigger to fish this lake now.  I go down 15 ft in 30 ft of water.  Trolling a watermelon dodger and worm.

The fish are real nice...red meat and all the fins are nice.  Really good fighters.  Got my limit except for a couple of times.  Probably been there about ten times.

All the people at work want some fish.

Yes Bill,

I took an old pole (bottom half with the reel seat on it).  Cut the handle side of it.  Put a old levelwind on it with 30# test line.  Got the scotty mini release and a 2 1/2 lb. salmon trolling weight on it.  Strapped it to my brass eyes lets in front of my knees with tie straps.

Works OK for lakes.  May try it for Linda Mar.

Got 5 trout on Thurs the 16 (afternoon), Sat and Sun (18 & 19) only one trout each day.  I think the cold front killed the bite or it is getting to be the end of fishing for trout at Lexington.

Fishing the Santa Cruz Side (East side or Creek side).  Bigger fish are there.  Only, problem is the wind is always blowing against you on the way in.   Will try on Wed. or Thurs day (afternoon) this week.

How is the bass fishing?

I drive by that lake a lot and look at it longingly all the time.  Where do you park and launch?

Thanks for the help.

PS, I have been making a kayak downrigger in my mind for a while but never have gotten around to it.

I want to use an old linecounter reel and use spectra for the weight line as it is smaller diameter and will cause less drag.
