What up everyone, been a long time.  :smt006 I’m looking for racks and bars and all that to go over my truck bed to transport my kayaks. My previous method won’t work on my new truck and to tell you the truth it was a hassle anyway. This time I want to go top of the line and I want it to be as convenient as possible. I’m super close to buying Yakima Heavy Duty Truck Racks, Yakima HD Bars, Yakima Handroll and Deckhand. I haven’t seen anything from Thule that looks as good as the Yakima stuff but maybe I’m just not seeing it. So before I drop a bunch of money, let me know what you think! What would you do if you were me? Those of you with truck racks, how do you roll? I know this has been posted before, but it’s been a while since the last thread and I’m sure a bunch of new products exist. Thanks fellas, I’m looking forward to getting some time out there, I’ll definitely be tossing swimbaits for big bass soon, and prime sturgeon is about it hit! Just gotta get my transport game tight.

I would check the WTB forum. I remember quite a few being put up for sale, but I don't remember them all getting purchased.

Hi Jeff. I have Thule bars on my truck with Hullavator racks. What I never liked about Thule is that the crossbars are square while the Hullavator racks have round clamps.

I have Yakima crossbars on my minivan but, besides attaching a huge, long rod case on it, have not decided yet whether to move the Hullavator racks over to the van.

Good to hear from you again.

BTW, unless you are in a big hurry, wait for a 20 percent sale (on one item) from REI. If it does not encompass all of the parts required, at least have it applied to the most expensive item. Provided that REI offers the specific models you want, of course.

I was at REI the other day and the guy said the sale is in June! I’m just gonna bite the bullet and buy the stuff, it’s been too long!

After seeing those racks on a Tacoma driving by, I went home and searched them out online to see what they were. Sweet looking racks. I have fully functional racks now and of course I've been trying to convince myself I need ones that can raise and lower, when in fact I just like the way they look. Good Choice.

I have Yakima bars on my toyota camry and loaded two hobie revos on top. One thule j hook and one yakima j hook. Both are great products. I would NEVER buy them new. Thule and yakima are overpriced.

It costs 80$ to buy a small piece of metal base clips. So annoying but yeah both companies make good products

What kind of truck do u have?  Does it have factory tracks ?

I drive a tundra with factory tracks... I use a Rola utility racks which slides with the factory tracks in the bed, The rola bars have tracks also, which I use.
Rhino-Rack Nautic Kayak Carrier - 581... it’s low profile . It’s awesome I love my setup. It wasnt ridiculously overpriced.

I used hully rollers for my Thresher 140. I thought they dented in the hull. Too much weight is placed on too small of an area. It didn’t do permanent damage as far as I can tell, I just didn’t like it.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan
