Excellent conditions - Flat as a fritter, calm with low clouds. Wind picked up around 10:30.

Steady action early, mostly smallish and no ling love. Kept a greenling, a couple olives and  stocky 18" cabby for dinner.

I'll be going out again tommorrow.

Greg, glad you got it good after your haitus.  Waiting for another report of 7 Lings from your.

I'd been jonesing to get out, snuck out after 3, was windy, had trouble, only got small scraps, was constantly looking over my shoulder, thought i saw a seal jump far offshore, was flashing back to "Air Jaws" on discovery last night....

Don't think I can hit it tomorrow, but I'm scratching on harvey & heading north, haven't been doing that well @ harvey so it's North to the Cap!!!!!

Harvey has been like a light switch this year. A month ago my neighbor and I couldn't keep the lings off the hooks; we both limited and threw at least 4 back. The neighbor kept a nice, very fat 32 incher (bizarrely colored).

I don't think Harvey is slow in particular, I know guys that fish from Vandenburg to Big Sur and they're saying the same thing, the whole area seems to be inconsistent right now

UPDATE:

I woke up too late to go this morning but my neighbor (same one) launched at Harvey and bagged a 36" ling as a hitchhiker on a blue this morning off the ranch. Crap! I'm goin' back out on Sunday.

lucky guy,  i had an insane session up there one day (off the ranch), had 4 lings to 26", at one time I caught 2 in a row.  i was really close to shore too, around 100 to 150 yards out.

His dad bagged a 30" in the same area about 10 minutes later. I'm going to cry.

they must be on the inside, could be what they do when it calms down-move in close to shore so they can scour above the low tide line.

i saw a guy pole-poke a 25" Ling off the rocks @ harvey last year.
