So I moved to Hawaii and getting settled to finally take out the kayak.  The paddle pants I currently have are a neoprene and a lighter weight waterproof pair.  These both will be too hot for here.

Anyone have recommendations on a very lightweight pair of paddle pants?  I'm looking more for sun protection.

Under armour heat gear leggings.  $20-$30, cool, and good sun protection.  Very breathable and you can wear shorts over them... Or not.   :smt044

I wore these kayaking in the east cape and they were the bomb.

The Colombia "blood and guts" pants are great. They also have a zip off into shorts version. They are super light and fishing stains wash off easy. They dry quick too so I can jump overboard and swim when its hot

I mirror what the other guys have said.  The few times I've fished in really hot weather, I've worn thin, synthetic hiking pants for sun protection.  The only problems were that my ankles and feet got sun burned because I wore sandals.  I also have NRS drypants (with socks attached) that were comfortable enough in warm weather.  Soaking my feet really helped to keep cool.

I use a pair of Columbia hiking breakaways when I fish the delta. They fit pretty long (or I’m just too short) so I get good ankle and foot coverage.  Had em in dead heat over 100* plenty of times no issue with burning, comfort (I douse em with water occasionally) or fatigue. i Like to convert em to shorts when I land, just more comfortable loading the truck and driving home.

Any QUICK dry pants from other sports work good
Hiking pants seem best to me
I would consider packing  a light weight pack able wind breaker to put on in case you go over. It will keep heat in till you warm up

i already have a couple of lightweight hiking pants, never thought of using them.  I'll have to try them out.  I have a pair of reef boots so I'll wear that to prevent my feet from getting burned.  I fished out of Baja years ago from a kayak and was in shorts and got burned on the legs so wanted to avoid that.

"Venting in the crotch and at the hips keep things cool on hot days."    All pants should have these features.   :smt044
