Luci lights, propane, and fire.
They’re pretty quiet.

Luci lights are so great. Use them backpacking and car camping, and recharge 'em during the day.
gave 2 to my wife's dad for his RV and he was super stoked.

Nothing will change, there are more people without generators that will ask to not hear them.  It would be like me saying I have no issue with closing fishing areas because I don't fish there.  But I don't do that.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Yup, I'm totally fine with 8-8. Half of a day seems like plenty of time to get things recharged, right ?

Oh, I’ve got a generator. I just choose not to use it when I’m camping because I find them awfully obnoxious. I don’t need computers or video games or air conditioning when I’m in nature. I don’t want to be that guy everyone else is looking at sideways in the campground.

Personally, I hate campground nazis and completely support anyone that wants to drag out a 50’ mega bus to enjoy the great outdoors with all the comforts of home.  No one persons opinion on how camping should be done is any more important than the next, especially in a public campground.  Not sorry if my music broke up your naked fire dance drum ritual or other such nature hippie nonsense  :smt003

With that being said, I find 8-8 to be completely reasonable.

It boils down to common sense and being respectful! Get the big pot of rice cooked, your battery’s charged and shut it down. Watch Frozen 2 later! Socialize a little!  Human time is a good thing!

8 to 8 is much more reasonable.

Others should be forced to listen to them.

After reading through the posts, it was apparent that 1) there are many types of camping expectations and 2) there are many folks who actually like the 8pm cut-off time. This was a bit surprising! Im super curious as to how many were camping in tents and how many were camping in trailers.

For me, if I am in the wilderness and dry camping - absolutely, I'm there to escape and enjoy nature. I unplug and get back to a simpler way of life. No power needed.

If I'm camping in a parking lot (which really, is what Doran is), in January - Im using the trailer and yes, absolutely using the Honda generator when there is no shore power (for those of you who talked about the cheaper, noisier generators - I agree, those are just plain awful).

What many don't realize, is that some folks typically have to work while camping in order to get the time away at all. Who would want to be stuck inside a trailer working during the day working, when they could do it from 8-10pm that night? Im here to enjoy the day, exploring the area....and my trade off is that I sometimes have to spend the evenings (after dinner) on my computer.

I don't think that asking for generators to be turned off at 10pm (as the "quiet time") is unreasonable. Later than that, yeah, I would agree is too late.

If all you are needing a genny for is to charge your computer, why not get a small inverter and plug that into the cigarette lighter?  It will provide AC power from the RV battery to charge your computer battery just fine.
I always bring a genny, one of the quiet ones.  I rarely use it though.  I have 250 watts of solar on the roof that charges my RV batteries and a small inverter to run or charge small AC stuff like a computer;

If someone has to work during their camping trip, then don't ask the entire campground to make the sacrifice.  You may have to give up an hour or two while your equipment charges, but that's better than not going at all, right?  Asking everyone else to give up their quiet time from 8 to 10 is, quite frankly selfish.
8 to 8 is way more than enough time to charge a laptop's battery.  If you are out of the RV for that full 12 hours, ask a neighbor.  Any one of your NCKA fellow campers would be more than happy to help out another.  All it takes is a slice of that heavenly carrot cake!   :smt007

8 to 8 is reasonable. If you need more power late in the evening, start picking up batteries for backup power. Sometimes I'm in bed by 9, don't want to hear generators while trying to sleep.

I tent camp and a few times RV camped, in the RV I don't use much power, relay on batteries for power.

I was surprised at the 8-8, but we enjoyed it.

We learned our lesson from prior stormy Crabfests and rent a travel trailer.  We don't bring a generator though.  For power, we have a jump box with a built-in inverter that we always bring along.  Good enough to jump start the truck (if ever needed), charges our cellphones, fish finder battery, walkie-talkies, and VHF radio.  I was more worried about the noise my kids were making, even inside the trailer.    BTW, love your carrot cake!
