Welcome Mike. There are a few of us in the Reno area that occasionally participate in the MerrymentandMayhem.

I've caught cutthroat out of Pyramid Lake utilizing various methods in various locations, almost never consistent. I never anticipate one method to work better than another. There have been days when the bite was nonexistent regardless of what method I was using and how well I was doing the week before, or even the day before. The weather at Pyramid Lake is a big determining factor as conditions can change fast and will require you to rethink your strategy. Personally I always bring at least 3 to 4 rods set up with different lures to alternate from as I make my way between waypoints. In November I was doing well with a P-Line jig just above the bottom at 80ft straight off of Pelican Point. At the beginning of December I found them while downrigger trolling from Spider Point to Warrior Point using a Sierra Spoon at 65ft. In the past I have caught a few using Blue Fox and Mepps spinners. Fly fishing is a popular and effective method that I have never personally tried.
