if anybody wants to go old school, someone on the peninsula's selling a rudderless dolphin for $120. got the hard hatch covers, can't tell if it's got the neoprene covers, but doesn't looked roached out.

Still love mine!

How stable is it? Stable enough to fish?
Seems like a good tour ride.

Anything can be stable enough to fish once you've put in the seat time. Ever seen a Stealth kayak?  Super sleek and fast

I like the stealth but it out of the price range for a beater kayak.
I want one to leave on my car and not worry too much about weight and getting it stolen.  :smt006

Eelklram's spot on about stability: anything can be stable enough when you get to know the boat.

My experience with it is it's got very little primary stability, so it's pretty damned quick, and is wiggly (see my signature), but the secondary's so stable I've never fallen off, nor felt like I was going to. It's also pretty narrow and low on the water so re-entry's not a problem.

It is a decent tourer: not hard to get a fair amount of stuff inside it, speed-wise, it's on par with my SIK's. No hull slap, and tracks well without the rudder.

I think the weight on mine with a rudder's just north of 60#, the rudder probably is around 3-5# of that, so not insane. I can manage it by myself if I have to, but having a 2nd person to help is appreciated.

Well I guess if someone got it before me then I won’t be so heart broken about it.
Thanks  :smt006
