Does anybody know where I could find straight flush mount rod holders locally (Vallejo)? I made a mistake and ordered angled flush mounts. When I started looking closely at my yak I realized that my rods would be almost parallel to the water if I installed angled flush mounts.

BTW, I now have two angled flush mounts for anybody who wants them.

Angled holders are pretty standard on most yaks.  I'd prefer my rod closer to the water for trolling applications...you using them for trolling or just storing the rods while not in use?

I was thinking that they would mainly be for storage, but I may troll. I'm still a noob at this, so I may be wrong about my assessment of the rod holders. I have a Prowler 15 and was looking to install the flush mounts on the flat spots right behind the seat. Are others with P15's using the angled mounts?

Yours wold be the first p15 I've seen with vertical holders, if you went that route...actually it'd be the only yak I've seen with them.  If its just for storage you'd probably be better served by attaching pvc rocket launchers to either a crate or tackle box then strapping that in a tankwell.  Maybe even get the seat/backrest with the launchers attached. If you trolled or even used a vertical as a rod holder I'd expect possible broken rod tips and missed hooksets.

The Prowler 15 Angler comes with angled flush mounts behind the seat area. Check one out, and you'll see exactly how to do it.

Thanks for the replies! I think I'll go ahead and install the angled flush mounts. I also have the plano box for behind the seat and I'll attach PVC holder on it. Thanks again!

If you need help here's Mol Bassers post on how he installed the rod holders on the Plano box.

He did a kick ass job and I used this to make mine.. worked like a charm! BTW, try ABS (black) tubes instead of PVC (white). They come in bigger diameters and the plastic is harder. :smt002
