We jokingly refer to BASK as an eating club with a kayaking disorder but did you know that there is also a fishing club with a kayaking disorder? They are local and pretty active. Check them out--especially if you like to fish. www.norcalkayakanglers.com

I've been a member of BASK and WSK for years, but I have to say I am hooked on NCKA and kayak fishing. NCKAers are a great group of (mostly) guys who are so knowledgeable about fishing and kayak rigging and who gladly share their expertise on the forum and on the water. Plus, they rival BASK when it comes to eating!

I've been fishing freshwater for about a year, but the group is nudging me to try the ocean, which I'm going to do this weekend. I'm always looking for fishing/camping buddies and would welcome hearing from you, especially if you like Sierra lakes!

Penny Wells is one serious paddler.
When I used to work with Outdoors Unlimited I had some interaction with Penny and Ken Mandsheart (I think I totally blew the spelling of his last name). Ken used to host the annual OU instructor training up on the Russian River. Great folks, and very helpful to a then-newbie, especially when my truck battery died in the boonies of Cazadero during an OU trip.
