The swell is too big in the ocean for me, so I'm planning to go crabbing at Tomales tomorrow. Launching from either Nick's cove or Lawsons. Thinking to arrive about 8. I haven't launched a kayak at Lawsons before, but based on reports it seems like you can go crabbing close to the launch which is an advantage if the wind picks up. Anyone want to join me?

I’m in for tomorrow but likely will be at Bolinas.  Only a small 2’ tide.

I have never been to Bolinas. The swell forecast is 5.6 ft 13sec on Willyweather. Do you launch in the lagoon or is it protected enough for a surf launch?

Yeah, I'm seeing something similar for Bolinas.  Not impossible, but sporty.  It won't really be protected because the swell is coming from the W and SW.  Backup plan would be to drop pots inside the lagoon.

While Tomales would be an easier launch from both Nicks or Lawsons, the reports have been grim and very slow.  With Bolinas, you don't need to get out far, but you do need to get thru the surf.

I'm going to check out Muir, then Stinson.  I'll be able to see Bolinas from Stinson as well.  If none of the beaches look good, then I'll drop pots inside the lagoon.

Any word on how the crab snarers are doing at Bolinas ? I'm heading out with some non-kayakers Saturday and am looking for somewhere besides Cambells Cove in Bodega.

Good luck tomorrow to all that head out.

“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”
