Hey awesome group you all have here! I have learned a ton from reading the forums already.

I am looking for my first (used)kayak... any suggestions for someone just getting into the sport, going very basic to start.

Used rental fishing kayaks good bang for buck?   malibu xfactor?

Thanks for the ad!

Welcome to NCKA  :smt006

First and most important...Test paddle any kayak you are interested in before buying is the best advice I can give you.

This will tell you everything you need to know about what kayak is best for you.  Only you can decide what will fit your expectations of what you want in a kayak.  (Ocean, lakes, rivers, fishing, diving, standing, etc) Reviews and opinions can only go so far.

Welcome to the madness  :smt006

It's hard to pick a kayak from test driving bc most are done in small waters. You need to test in surf/salt if you plan on that type of fishing down the line.

Yeah I agree buy it once! Downgrade as weight becomes a factor later in life.

Welcome.  I love my outback, but I could see a revo 13 being a nice ride, being a little lighter.

Revo too narrow for a beginner with a crab trap?

Moomoo outdoors highly recommends them.  I'm about to purchase one to replace my oldtown predator pdl due to weight.

Welcome! and I ended up buying a used Hobie not too long ago from a private seller. Like other's said Cal Kayak was having a good sale, 20% off and Tahoe City Kayak (new and demo) (too far for me), 30%. Buying new would have been nice, but you have to budget in all the little extras.

I keep seeing Tahoe City Kayak's Craigslist adds and then I see it has tax added on after D: lol still a good price, but the price before tax is a huge clickbait lol.
