Going to go over for a few days, staying in Waikoloa area. Hope to catch a charter trip.

Anybody have experience and/or recommendations for a half-day, basic trip?

I went with a guy a few years back, let me see if I can drag out the #

Bring a little spinning rod and some rapals, casting from shore ("whipping" they call it), is fun. Loads of little small Jacks and such. A-Bay also has bonefish, but those little bastards are picky.

That’d be cool if you have his number.

Good idea, thanks!

I stayed there maybe 4 years back in July.  Hired a guy out of the harbor at Kona who I would not recommend. Dont recall his name.

You can rent kayaks and gear at plenty pupule in the north end of Kona near the Home Depot. I launched in several places including waikoloa. There’s pelagics and reef fish to be found.  Also saw a few turtles and a big ass tiger shark.
