Decided I hadn't given Davenport a try in awhile.

Launched at 6:00 to a surprisingly big swell.  Also surprising was the wind direction, from the southeast.  Paddled off to Scott's Creek in hopes of landing a halibut.  Once there, the wind that was blowing on my back had picked up a good bit, and between the wind and swell, found it pretty hard to get a slow drift.  Probably should have popped out the drift chute, but didn't really feel like rigging it up.

After a couple of hours of nada other than snags, decided to swing to the south, and tried just south of the mouth.  Nothing there either, so headed back in around 9:20.

Got skunked, but did so with a smile on my face  :smt001

There is at least an 8 foot swell, with 2 to 3 foot wind waves going on.  First time I can remember at Davenport that the wind was blowing me north...

Thanks for the report. Davenport is the closest launch to me, and is often my go-to spot. In addition to the irritating wind, the last couple times I've gone out up there the prevailing current has been opposite the wind, which made for some interesting conditions.

I did not think that Wind condition was that bad last year. It has given me miserable experience a few times this year. What is going?

The wind was not this bad but the lack of wind also can produce lack of salmon cause the ocean upwelling does not occur.

Don't ask me where the salmon are  :smt009

Bill,

The Salmon are at COSTCO.  All pumped up with chemicals and from South America (Framed Raised).  Bet, you can keep it in your fridge for a month without the color fading.

Bring on the Albacore.
