Glad to hear that this is going to happen again, as it's a major highlight of the season for me. I couldn't fish it last year, as my kid had a track meet in Gilroy, but I did manage to make a "slight" detour on my way to Gilroy just to see the start. It's awesome to see all of those kayaks lined up on the beach. If you can get 100 or more, that would be a real spectacle.

As for increasing participation, I'd suggest deluging the social media sites. Being anti-social myself, I don't follow any of them, but I get the impression that there is more kayak fishing related activity on those sites than there is on NCKA...
I don't like stuff that sucks.

I hit the social media pretty hard last year and even sent out emails to everyone that bought a fishing kayak from us. I am trying to get a few other kayaking clubs north and south to advertise this for me and maybe throw in some prizes.

We do provide food every time and maybe I need to highlight that aspect as well. Someone fron NCKA brought some awesome Macaroni salad last year too!
Get out there and Fish!

How about mid-June? Not a lot of tournaments then and should not conflict with early season Halibut and Striper events in SF Bay. By that time all the kids should be out of school and families are more likely to come adding an extra day to the trip and not having to worry about late Friday drive downs or getting back early Sunday to get the kids in bed for school on Monday.

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.
