San Diego Mission Bay, etc.

Just got back from 2 weeks in Mission Beach.  Kayaked Mission Bay a few times.  Caught a few spotted Bay Bass.  Not real great catching.  Plastics and mostly a 3/8 oz underspin.  Bay water was very warm so fish may be concentrated in deep holes or where more current was available.  Tried the new Striker 5 CV plus fishfinder.  Did not help, so much grass and stuff in the water, that could not pick out fish.  Nice fishfinder though.  Will work great in lakes, etc.  took a morning 1/2 day out of Seaforth.  Fished between Solana Beach and Del Mar, in 150-250’ of water for small reds.  They do not have descenders in the boat and are needed.  Lots of small fish released to the gulls.  Square Patch were common.  And do not get very big.  Most of the reds were 12-15”.  Nice weather on the Wednesday, turned windy and cool on Thursday.  Rain Thursday night and hit rain on way up I5 to Santa Monica and daughter’s.
