I started off jigging just south of Hog, caught one halibut. I ended up snagging a bat ray luckily it wasn’t big. I tried jigging one other spot but I ended up snagging a different kind of ray not sure what it was. So after that I decided to go back to trolling went all the way down to Marshals worked the general area I caught fish last week for no luck. I hooked something on a big hammer but it came off.

Congrats!
The other "Ray" may have been an Angel Shark. They inhabit
Inshore shallow water and are found in Tomale Bay.
Be careful with those guys. Real Sharp teeth and strong bite force.

I got around to looking it up, it’s a pacific electric ray. I definitely won’t be grabbing another one of these! I had no idea there was anything that could shock you around here. It wasn’t bad, just really surprising!

Cool fish! I had no idea there were fish that could shock you in CA. Good to know.

I was out at Tomales with my wife yesterday. We caught a bunch of rock crabs. Only made a half hearted attempt at fishing and got a half hearted response from the fish: one bait bit in half  :smt002

Yeah, blue cooler and sun shirt. How’d you do yesterday? I think I talked to you JP in the parking lot. Good to hear you guys caught a bunch of crab. You got me thinking about trying that myself.

electric ray. Watched one put a dog into a state of passing out and foaming at the mouth. They get large.

Nice Halibut! it seems the bites slowed a bit in Tomales Bay ?
