Went out of the harbor and to east of the Mile Buoy. Had sabikied a jacksmelt in the harbor while I and he were chasing the 'covies.  Soaked him for 45 mins, jigged up another way out there, another half hour, trolled up to off of the Lighthouse but that was even bouncier and I didn't linger.  A new south swell (but it seemed like a mixed direction swell) rolled into town for the tourists ( as long as they spend lots I don't care, and you do have to have sympathy for those from the Central Valley) after weeks of flat water. I knew I didn't have a good chance to get a flattie, but tried anyway.   Not much wind until 11:30  when it came up fast to about 10-12.  Didn't get a nibble.  Not even a rockie.
I also jigged an anchovie-sized fish with a long jaw -looked like a baby ling or pike.  Are those what are called Lizard Fish?

Yes, that was most likely a lizard fish.  Sansano jigged up about 6 of them in the same area on sunday.

they can be used for bait.

I'm going out in that area on Friday probably.  hope conditions improve before then.

did you make it over towards Black's Point, or mainly by the Mile Buoy?

Yes, that was most likely a lizard fish.  Sansano jigged up about 6 of them in the same area on sunday.

And I jigged up another 5-6 of them today as well.  There must be quite a few in the area right now.  I didn't use them for bait this time as I had a bucket of live chovies.  I was jigging to get some of my favorite jacksmelt, which I did manage to get a few choice pieces.

Yes, I went back to try to get some butt revenge.  It was a lot slower today.  Only got 3 schoolie rockfish and no butt joy.  Very foggy today and I got turned around a bit.  Finally made it to the Black's Point area, but there was absolutely no drift today and the mixed swell pretty much anchored me in place.  I resorted to bump trolling to cover a little more ground.

I hope it picks back up for you Allen.

Dude!

Should have let me know you were fishiing today, i might have joined....

probably better for my shoulder to lay off, though.

What depth were you fishing today?  I'm thinking, with the swell, deeper will be better.  I'll know more later when I research for the newspaper report I'm writing this evening.

Allen, I did make it to Blacks, but only fished there a short while because I thought it would be better deeper.  Those lizardfish were small enough to slip out the holes in my bait tube.  Maybe I'll just put them in a milk jug.

Exactly!!!  I didn't want to contribute to more aggravation to your shoulder, especially before our AK trip.  Just looking out for you bro.

LOL... It is bgetting better.  the PT lady taped it up on tuesday, tookk the pressure off the nerve.  today the pain is actually so tolerable, I forgot to take my noontime Motrin.  So, things are getting better.  Thanks for looking out for me, bro!

ps-I'm going out Friday with ProwlinNorCal and Ismael in his new big Game.  Wish us LUCK.  Looks like light SW winds and a mixed S/NW swell.  could be wierd.
