Hey all-

Met a few people out there this past Sunday. Heard it’s been getting slow but wanted to try out the new down rigger so had to get out there.

The weather was phenomenal with a launch right at dawn. 2-3 kts of wind most of the day, occasionally more, and less at times. Almost no swell.

Right after sunrise I passed a yak with a fish on. He said it felt good, and was fishing about 25’ of water ( hope you got it man)! Lots of bait in the morning and 2 whales played in the area for about an hour.

Long of the short was trolled 8 hours. Got a good strike and hold up for about 10 seconds. Buddy did the same about 100 yards from me. Other than that, two small lings and a nice lunch (🤢) from the gas station on the drive down was the highlight of my trip.
Great day to go fishing but the catching was slow.

Didn’t hear or see any others that day.

Thanks for the report! I'm gonna have to give it one more try before the season ends.

I was out there, hmb, with my wife also. Pretty slow. Was wondering how others did since we got out there late, 8:30am. Couldn't ask for better weather though.  No strikes trolling except an undersized ling. Ended up switching to rockfish and a bunch of undersized ling's. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the report,

I was out there in my '16 Papaya(orange) Outback, I think I was chatting with you on and off around the green can.  I couldn't get a fish in the boat to save my life until I was coming back in and I put on a sabiki to catch some bait lol.  Landed one very spirited smelt.

got my first hookup on a salmon from kayak this year straight out of the jaws headed toward the green can, so all in all, pretty happy with the day.

Rk2Fish yah- I think I met your wife, Red ‘19 Outback? I chatted with her for a minute, I hadn’t seen that color in person and I really like the red. I think she said you had the blue, which I like a lot too.

Shane yah that was me. Couldn’t have picked a better day to fish, just would have been nice to have a little better day of catching.

I’m planning on Bo Saturday so maybe see you guys out there. Nice meeting you.

Well I’ll say hello next time I see your duo. I have goals of getting my wife a yak someday to join me too, but we have a very young daughter so we take turns enjoying our hobbies.
