I fished Jackson Mdw. Res. last night (Sat. eve.) 7pm-8:30pm.  Trolled #8 BH Black Crystal Bugger for five Rainbows and one 10" Rainbow toplining a J-9 Gold floating Rapala back 150' (all C&R).  All were 9-10" planters except one 16" and prob. 1.5 lbs. It gave the best fight for a trout in (my) memory -jumped, dove deep, ran, and twice it took my rod tip under water by more than a foot (!) when I thought it was finished.  No fish has taken my rod tip down except a Ling Cod.
Nice lake, but there were a couple water skiers (which didn't bother six fish).  Water temp. 68 F, air prob. 70 F wind was 8 mph at first then calmed down to slight ripple on water.  I put in at the Pass Ck. boat ramp and fished the point directly across the cove and trolled back into the cove.  It was in the shade and depth was 35' and I was trolling at about 20' deep. I would think mid-day would be nuts on this lake with power boaters.
I'm in Truckee now and will head back to J.M. to fish tonight's big evening bite.  One of the guys at Mtn. Hardware (Truckee) said the fish are larger at the inlet and it would be perfect for kayaking since the motor boats have a harder time getting in . I'm very confident.
Wed. night I fished Gold Lake from 7 - 9:30 pm for nothing.  It was windy (spelled g-a-l-e).
Thurs. afternoon fished Upper Salmon Lk. 3-4:30 pm for one Brook Trout abt. 9" caught 10' deep trolling with #8 BH Black Crystal Bugger.
(Non-kayak - fished N.F. Yuba R. yesterday 2:30-4pm and caught 9 (C&R) trout 5-9" using Parachute Adams #16 and # 16 Yellow Humpy.  A friend fished the section below Sierra City for over 30 (C&R) trout with Parachute Adams in the afternoon last Sunday.  The river is in perfect condition right now for fly fishing.
