Hey guys. I've been a casual fresh water fisherman for many years, but have limited experience in the ocean. I do spearfish regularly out of Monterey, so I at least know the local fish species a bit. I have an 11' inflatable catamaran with a 10HP four stroke that I use for spearfishing, but I want to try my hand at trolling for halibut and salmon. I'm joining this board to learn and to maybe find friends to go fishing with.

Cheers,
Ben

MauiBen,
I am interested in what kind of inflatable you have and what you think of it.
I do not own a kayak at this time.....thinking about it...….but want to fish places like the Sacramento River for trout, stripers and such.  Maybe other places too.
I have looked at a number of web sites about inflatables, but they all say they are the best.  So....just curious about your boat.
Not interested in doing the ocean thing at all.  Too old for that stuff.
Thanks.

Thanks Cabeza!

Old Kayak, I have a True Kit Discovery. I haven't had it that long, but so far I am loving it. It's pretty much a perfect spearfishing boat. The open bow makes it easy to get in and out of the water. It packs down small enough that I can carry it in my compact car and it takes up very little space in my apartment. It's light enough that two people can easily beach launch it. I recently upgraded the motor from a 6HP to 10HP, but I'm still breaking in the new motor.

Welcome, MB. That's a cool looking boat.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?
