Hey y'all!
New to kayak fishing this year and love to fish all types water.

I live Cameron Park and am excited to fish anything from high sierra lakes for trout, Sac river for salmon & striper, Folsom lake for bass & trout. I'm down to venture out to the ocean & grab saltwater fish, and yes, I'm even down to  soak chicken liver & fight catfish! (midwesterner here and I'm a sucker for fried catfish & hush puppies)

My local fishing hole is the Brown's Ravine / Salmon Falls area of Folsom Lake and can even squeeze in a weeknight session after (summer) if anyone's interested.
Looking forward to the fall salmon run on the sac river soon....and if anyone has experience trolling sierra lakes for trout & kokanee i'd be interested picking your brain.

I started with the lifetime tamarack to get my paddle wet and recently purchased a Nucanoe Frontier 12.

Looking forward to getting involved...

my friends and I are going to brown's ravine this weekend to fish some trout and bass. What lures worked best for you? Appreciate the help! We're newbies

Welcome action man. I’m a former Midwesterner too, from the great state of Iowa.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

bass at folsom lake / brown's ravine / salmon falls are tough!
i can't say i've had too many fantastic days, but not too many days getting skunked either.
can't seem to catch them on the fun stuff (topwater, jigs, or crankbait).
so i resort to the old tried & true senko... works in various methods. weightless wacky, & ned rig, & drop shot seem to be the only way i can get them to bite.
mostly pretty small with an accasionally 2.5 lber.
pumpkin green variations work well and got mone recently on a light purple senko.
had someone tell me recently the whopper plopper has worked for them.
the salmon falls area has 5mph speed limit which is probably as peacful as folsom gets on a weeknight.
