Shakedown cruise for my Radar 135

I finally got my new Radar 135 out on the water. It doesn’t have a lot of room under the deck so I needed to figure out where to store my stuff on the deck. I just hope I don’t do something stupid in the surf and flip over. Otherwise this kayak is so stable I doubt it will flip any other way. I went for a short cruise to the dam on lower Scotts Flat Lake. I was able to stand up in a kayak for the first time which is a big plus. It wasn’t a long trip but I didn’t miss my seat cushion at all. That gives me hope that I won’t need it anymore. The seat is very comfortable. I reached a top speed of 3.86 mph according to my gps. That’s about as fast as I could paddle any of my other kayaks so I’m happy with the speed. The rudder was responsive and I was able to work my downrigger with ease. It will make a very good all around kayak. Ocean fishing, sturgeon in the bay and trolling for trout. If you are in the market for a quality kayak, check one out.

  I love this set up.  I like the idea your prop is out of the water when you want to paddle.  I hope you are going to post how you put this together.
