Eric (my son) and I arrived at the meadows ramp a little after 7am. We were pleased to see Dan arrive a few minutes after that. Good to see you again Dan :smt006. On the water at 7:30am, off around noon.

Breezy on the water today, so we used it to help us drift down the slough. The little bass were hungry, but the big bass weren't. Eric caught 4 or 5 dinks and lost a real nice one at the boat. The fish unhooked as he was reaching down to grab the lip. I saw the head and mouth and it looked nice. I also caught 4 dinks on senkos. Lost one that felt big in the weeds. My line broke as I tried to pull it up. :smt012. I did catch one decent bass. A 16.5" that got hooked on my rootbeer senko. Got a few topwater hits on a frog and one caught on a 4" swimbait. Last time I talked to Dan, he caught a bunch of the little guys too. Hope he did better after we left.

Other than two big weekender boats and one pb at the ramp, the three of us owned the slough. No pb pressure at all. Great day to be on the water. :smt001

The Delta seems nice & nice catches!  :smt023
That's great that there was no PBs.  The Delta gets pretty nasty with the wind & big PBs around...

Sounds like a great day.  Soon I will be making my first trip out to the delta...just not sure when yet??  How far from Sac State is the Meadows ramp?  Maybe I can make it out for a few min this weekend?

Strong work Al! How does Eric like that emotion boat? and what is your opinion on it. Ive never paddled one but from what ive seen they look to have alot of work space and if there ever was a boat that looked like it would be easy to stand in this would be it. I could be wrong.

Jim, It was a great day..always nice to fish with my son. Doesn't happen often enough. I would guess around 40 miles. Usually it's an easy, fast drive down I5 to Twin Cities.

Terry, The Emotion is a wide, flat bottomed boat. Slow to paddle but it is stable. Eric has plenty of room and feels comfortable on the water. He survived Elk on it last year. I got rolled but he stayed dry.

Eric got a good deal on it...FREE! He had the lucky raffle ticket at last years CCK fish derby at Natoma. I don't think I would buy one, but you can't beat a free kayak.

Hi Al,

When are you going to the 8-mile road area near Stockton again? Would love to check it out with an experienced bass angler who knows the local area like you. I'm taking next week off so I'll be doing a lot of fishing.

I drove around that area the other day, checked out the concret ramp on Correia road after reading your posts about that. It's still there and seems like the perfect place to launch our yaks. I even saw 2 aluminum boats launching there.

Did some bank fishing but didn't get anything, most likely because of all those PBs and water skiers. But man, that area has got to be a great place with all the weeds and tulies and covers. Can't wait to try out my new setup and a few frogs for some top water action.

I'm trying to go on a night fishing trip (check out my thread in hookup) so if we end up going to the salt, I'll definitely try out this place another night. If not the salt, I'm thinking this place. How about an evening trip out there going into the night? You could be our guide.

James

James..I must confess, I've been there, but I've never fished there. I think Stockton Don posted that location. The time I checked it out, it looked real bassy. I'd be happy to join you sometime.

Regards,
Al
