Saturday is going to be my first day back in the Hobie since I broke my leg. I'd like to go hit the Consumnes but if the flow is moderate to fast it will be too much for the ankle to deal with.  Any current info would be helpful.  If its moving well I will go hit a local lake like Del Valle so as to not risk further injury.

I have never been there but the DFW website lists it currently at around 1300 CFS which at my home River (Russian) is fishable but fast.
That's alot of moving water. You might consider Still water while your healing.
David

P.S. you can find most of CA river flows at the DFW website.
I don't know how to attach a link but it is very easy to find and save to your home screen.

No idea what is a high or low flow for that river, but here is the link.

Yeah I had looked at the river flow chart earlier but I have nothing to compare it to.  I have been out there before where the current really made you work to go upstream.  My ankle isn't ready for that.

David is spot on. For reference, that stretch of water was running at 140 CFS on this date last year. At 1300 cfs, that water is going to be flying right now.

You can look up historical data for comparison here ... http://cdec.water.ca.gov/dynamicapp/selectQuery

Thanks guys. I figured it might be running fast which is why I asked. Safety first,  Del Valle for some distance cruising it is.

Just saw my Surgeon today. he said my healing progress has been remarkable and as he put it "go forth and push the leg hard" it seems to be working well for your rehab process.

Good luck on your recovery.  I've broken, ah, a lot of stuff let's just say :)

so we took the kayaks out to Del Valle and did a complete loop of the lakes shoreline. Took us about 4 hours hitting every cove and finger. no fishing just working my leg.  Happy to say no pain or swelling.  We hit some serious wind chop out by the dam but given the heat the spray felt great.

USGS does most of the stream gaging in the state. Here is their statewide gaging station list.
