Got on a buddy's PB this past Sunday and headed out of Berkeley marina.  The water was calm and we were escaping the heat in Sacramento.  After launching, we headed out and trolled with frozen herring and some dodgers, but didn't get any bites.

We then saw a bunch of anchovie on the FF and then saw them breaking the surface, so we pulled out the sabiki rod and collected some live bait.  This immediately turned our luck around and we started landing fish with almost every drop.  The craziest part was that they were all keeper sized fish.  I caught them in this order: 22.5", 23.5", 25" 26".  My two friends caught 2 each at the time, so not wanting our fun to end, I decided to throw swimbaits instead after being motivated by all of Nawm's big fish photos.

I threw out about 5 casts using a 1oz jighead and a 5" brown and yellow big hammer swimbait when I get hit hard, and the fish starts peeling line.  This was the big fish of the day, 30+ inches (didn't have a long enough tape) and weighed in at 13 pounds.  The wind never picked up either.  Definitely one of the best halibut fishing days I've ever had!

“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”
