Launched at Howe around 7:15am. Did a very slow drift down to the pumps. Worked various spinners on the drift. Got to the pumps and jigged a few different Gibbs. Got no love.

Saw 5 or 6 pb's trolling the river. Didn't see anyone catch a fish. Didn't see a single salmon roll.

The river is real low and moving slow.

The weather was beautiful and the paddle was nice. Still good to be on the river...

Saw 6 boats working the Discovery Park area and a good amount of shore anglers this am..

I also got to talk with some PB's while I was out playing on the Fireboats last week @ Miller Park,

One guy in particular was interesting,

He had 150 lbs of clams and a old pole with a Gib lure whitebottom/lite green top,

obvious old salt of the river and knew it well...

He said " Only 3 Salmon this year "  " Our Salmon are in British Columbia "

  " There not Here!!!! :tongue2:" ......... Danglin

Good to see that some people are still hitting the A.  I have been watching it and it's just depressing, low, slow, empty...  The good thing is that theres 30 miles of parkway to ride the bike on and watch the water.  Rode 37 miles this afternoon from Howe to past the PATHETIC (salmon) FEST and nearly to Folsom.  The water looks great for paddling, and crappy for fishing.  Even Sailor Bar was deserted !!

That's a real bad sign. :smt009

I hope things pick up a bit with the rain and cooler weather.

I went through there yesterday. The weather was very nice, but I didn't see anyone there... normal years so many people line up around there around this time of year.   Salmon festival is this weekend too, but is there any salmon left...? :smt010

That's right! It was a "Recon Mission"... Thanks for the reminder Adam.
I'll let you know if they ever decide to head up the river.

Yes,I did have the camera.

A few more rocks than usual at the ramp area.

Yes, yes and yes...and none of them worked.

Remember Adam, it's important to try all methods during "Recon Missions". :smt002

The Fish are in there, my buddy last night called me up and said that he caught a 15lb salmon and a small steelhead shore fishing. The rain usually helps with the bite a bit especially when the salmon are coming up.
