Sometimes I carry a magnet and go fishing for lost treasures. So far only managed to retrieved a lost folding buck knife at San Pablo reservoir. I should try near popular surf launches like timber where I lost my gear. This could test the shark theory too, a win win.

I thought about adding a small magnet to my bait to deter bat rays, however the three I have caught so far this year have been snagged with swim baits.

Maybe I should be putting some magnets on my kayak.

From the article:
...swimmers would be ill-advised to try to ward off sharks by carrying magnets

Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

How about dangling one of these through the scupper holes? I’m sure it’s totally effective (and at 6% of the cost of a freedom7)! Lol.

Shark shield likely works on the same principle.
