Hey locals up in the Sacramento area fish for shad out of a yak? I have only bank fished for them. If so, I would be interested in a hook up and or any tips or general areas that work well in a yak.

I've fished for shad on sac river mostly from the banks and once from my kayak. Didn't have much luck from the kayak.  There were some boats that were killing them. They were using a rig similar to the double shrimp fly for rockfish, but grubs/shad dart instead of shrimp fly. They just throw it out and let it sit till the shad hit. It's also important to anchor right on top of their path. A few yards off, like I was, you wouldn't get hit.

Discovery Park, Miller Park and Verona seem to be popular spots, though I think you could catch them anywhere, esp narrow parts.

Hope you get some.
