Planning on heading out to Monterey for salmon opener on 4/6.  Anyone have any suggestions about where to launch yak from?  I was thinking either Moss Landing or Coast Guard Pier?

Probably Moss, that's where I launched last year for the April salmon.  Plus its a closer drive for me.  If you're down south already maybe launching from Monterey would make more sense.  Coming from either direction, It's a 6-8 mile paddle/pedal/motor/sail out to Mulligan's hill, the fishing spot that produced for us last year.

Bigtuna catches all the salmon, nothing left. :smt010

Note: Exercise caution if you go for salmon there.

I typically head straight out and a little north from Moss Landing. this way the wind and waves are with you coming back. And of course watch which way the current is pulling you.
If nothing else bring some sand dab gear for the end of the day. 82/100 ft of water hopefully there will be some around
