My wife got an air fryer recently, and she thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. She has made some things with it that are pretty good, but the other day, when she insisted on using it to cook halibut, I was expecting total disaster. The recipe was super simple, basically just panko bread crumbs coating over 1.5" diameter strips of halibut (think gigaginormous fishsticks). Surprisingly, it was not bad, and not anywhere near as dry as I expected. With a bit of tweaking, I think it could be very good.

So that got me to wondering if anybody else has had any positive experiences using an air fryer to cook local seafood, or to cook anything else, for that matter...

Salmon, trout and other oily seafood are great for the air fryer. I used to always do fried chicken in our air fryer until we got a convection oven. I’ve also done whole chicken, steaks, pork chops in it.
Enjoy!

TLW got one as a gift from her dad last year.... we cook almost every meal in it, hell she even cooks cakes and homemade twinkies in it. Now hers is a larger unit with a rotisserie built in.

I use a NuWave a lot...not an air fryer, but I bet if you throw your fish heads in there (I rub mine with olive oil, seasoning, put some whole peeled garlic cloves inside) they will turn out bomb...

Same with whole cabs...get much more meat off them than filleting around their weird pin bones...

Thanks for all of the info. Fish head sounds like a perfect match for the air fryer—will definitely have to give that a try.
