Cleaning out some gear to fund more gear.

Great entry level workhorse reel for most norcal species.  composite body requires little maintenance. originally bought as a loaner setup.  used a handful of times for salmon.

i have the TR 100 G that ive been using for a few years and it has treated me well. caught many fish with no failure.

line not included.

asking $65

pickup in san jose area or ncka express

“Requires little maintenance”. Has it been salt water before? If so, has it been serviced?

it has been in sw a few times (fishing, not dipped in sw btw)  and i broke it down after removing the line. did not service, but the internals are clean as a whistle. so i don't feel the need.

i just did a full service on my 100 model last night for the 2nd time that it has been in my posession. after about 50ish trips and just a freshwater rinse after.  the internals are pretty much clean as well. no corrosion.  this reel is very basic with very little parts to worry about.  only complaint is the springed dog is a bit hard to put back together that is why i dont like to service it often.

i would however, break it down and apply your choice of grease/oil if you plan to use it as a primary setup.

The TR's are good reels, the only major thing I never liked is the tiny handle. Alan Tani has a nice handle and throw in his 3/0 Kokler handle and it is a reel you can fish all day long (Google Alan Tani , for reel repair stuff). It is extremely dependable reel. My brother in law fishes these with his buddies on the east coast for flounder. His buddy has a commercial license to catch flounder but it has to be done by reel only. Reel of choice is the TR-200g.

i agree. the handle sucks.  i have never used the stock handle it comes with.   i had a power handle on it. the calcutta live bsit with big knob.  the alan tani handles are also very nice and ergonomic.  that and upgraded drags make a fine reel!
