Mississippi-Gulf 3 Day Trip

My friend Mac took me out fishing on a 3 day fishing trip which turned out to be a great trip. Caught a ton of fish and had a blast with my friends. here are some pics of the fish we caught. Dorado, yellow fin tuna, black fin tuna, some trout, and some reds. Which equals to a ton of fish meat i am bringing home=)

Nice catch... can you explain part of your trip like what bait, trolling, technique? I am thinking of a trip to the Gulf closer to New Orleans and I want to get an idea of what time of year is best, and what to look for. I hear, just go near some oil rigs or something... thanks for any info if you receive this reply.

okay heres the break down. For the reds and trout we used live bait like shrimp and something called croakers i think(type of small fish they like)  and also artificial baits such as swim baits, and shrimp plastics hooked up to a bober. For the dorado, and tuna we trolled rapalas, tubes, and birds that made a lot of splashing on top of the water when trolling with riggers. When we werent trolling for tuna and dorado we used diamond jiggs that were glow in the dark. For the trout and reds we only fished at the oil and gas rigs but for the dorado and tuna we trolled where the brown water and the blue water seperated, which had some type of sea grass accumulated where the two different types of water came together(we trolled on the blue side). Also for the tuna and dorado we fished with the jigges at the rigs. The water depth for the trout and reds was really shallow or right on top, mostly on top though. For the tuna and dorado well trolling was on top or at the most 25 feet deep, around the oil and gas rigs we went pretty deep with the jigs ranging from 50-100 plus feet. We caught the dorado during the day time and the tuna at night. For where we fished for the trout and reds was closer to waveland ms and for the tuna and dorado was where your talking about was around venice Louisiana.
