Bay Area native, but new to the fishing

I picked up fishing as a hobby recently, and am absolutely hooked. I used to go fishing with my brother growing up, but it never took hold (mostly because we never progressed beyond powerbait on toy rods).

My best mate brought me surf fishing for dinky little surf perch two months ago. 5 rods, ~15 or so fishing trips later, here I am
