I'm thinking of getting a Garmin Echomap Plus 64cv for my kayak, should I find a deal next week on black friday.  I've done a bit of research and have found the transducers that are not in hull, but actually in the water along the side of the kayak perform better.  One can't even get a clearV transducer that is in hull, so i was thinking of using a magnetic mount (fish.finder.mounts.) for the transducer.  What do you all think of this FF and plan?  Thanks

Just curious where you get this info. I've got an older Garmin FF and have tried many methods of mounting the transducer. I ended up gooping the transducer inside the hull because I could detect no loss in performance (other than water temp) and it is less of a hassle, compared to any of the other options.
There's always money in the banana stand.

I went Garmin's website and the garmin Echomap plus has clearV capability but only with certain transducers, none of which are in hull.  If you use an in hull you lose some performance by not having an out of hull transducer.  i also A/B'ed clearV versus traditional screen shots online and decided it was better not to have an in hull transducer, though I would have preferred it.  It may not have made a difference in the past, but with newer capabilities it seems in hull isn't as good.

I've got a 74sv chirp for sale...with the ultra fancy ducer, and cmap.
Bigger, better.
You'll need to spend 25 bucks to get the gimbal mount, cause all I have is the flush mount
