New Old Guy

Been lurking for a while and finally got my kayak salty. Figured that meant it was time to join in the fun you all seem to have here!

I live in Albion, and fish with a friend in his rowboat every summer, but am a novice kayaker. I have an old Perception Illusion 14 that seems to paddle pretty well, despite being severely oil-canned, and am trying to rig it up for fishing.

Looking forward to more time on the water, and maybe running into some of you on the beach.

Try filling up that kayak with hot water  for the oil canning.  Good luck.  Maybe post a cuple pix of the problem see what the great minds here come up with..

Why didn't I think of that? Would take a lot of hot water, but maybe I can combine my other favorite hobby - brewing - and use the big kettle... hmmm...

Right now I've got some wooden struts in there to push it back out, was thinking of using a heat gun to get it to re-set in position.

cold water from the hose and the heat gun?  Water will make the weight and push out evenly.
