Yea. That was sad. I saw 5 older Russian guys on an inflatable-type boat up in Ocean Cove. Not only were they poaching small lings but only the guy steering that thing had a pfd.

I was out in HMB two days ago.  Calm in the morning, very rough later that day.  I watched a Coast Guard helicopter practice pulling someone up from a boat...it might have been a half-mile from me and I could not hear that chopper at all, hovering 50 feet about the water.

Don't assume anyone can hear your yells in rough seas.  Even with a PFD on.

People get over confident, Sac river is not a warm water river, its got a fast flow to it as well.

Just doesn't make sense...PFD is too easy to wear nowadays with the inflatables and all and in the grand scheme of things price shouldn't even be a factor.

I cringe when I see kayakers casually passing me on the ocean and their pfd is no where in sight or behind them. Not dressed for immersion, and no radio.  Don’t respect the ocean and she will make you regret it. It’s fun and games until it gets real. Then it’s too late and you’re  own the news. Don’t be that guy.
