Hit Mendo after work last Thursday with Bob. We drifted live minnows. Started at the South ramp and worked our way North along the West shore where I scraped up a chunky little ~22" catfish. We then drifted with the heavy winds over to Crappie Cove where we fished the remainder of the evening. At one point Bob dropped his minnow to the bottom and landed to "stretch his legs". After returning from doing whatever it was he had to do he arrived to find his pole gettin' jiggy. After a nice battle from shore he landed the fat cat pictured.

We fished from about 4:00 - 8:00PM. Both fish were released.

I shot out of work a little early yesterday and arrived at Mendo and was in the water by about 4:00PM. Headed straight for CC and got slammed on my first drift along Striper Row. After a very nice battle up pops the 31" striper pictured. It fought itself out so I landed and walked it around the shallows until it got its strength back and swam off on its own.

I paddled back to the opening of the cove and started my drift over and got slammed in almost the same spot. I thought to myself "Man, this is gonna be a good day!" A weird sort of battle ensued and up pops a feisty cormorant! After an interesting and painful (for me) release the bird swam off and I continued drifting the cove, paddling to the cove entrance and letting the wind push me back in...taking various routes inside the cove. As it got dark I paddled back over to the ramp and made a few passes just north of it for nothing.

I've gotten one fish pretty much within the first hour or so for the last five or six trips to Mendo. Maybe next time I'll catch my one obligatory fish and call it a day. (Yeah right!)

Oh yeah...saw no boils whatsoever on either day.

Yesterday on the way up I saw a brush fire right next to the 101 just north of Cloverdale.

Just noticed something that peaked my curiosity. The fish pictures were viewed zero times but the pictures of the brush fire were viewed 61 times!

Anyone got an idea as to why? Did somebody link them to somewhere else?

Just wondering, I thought it was a little weird...lol.

Human nature!  Part of the Chaos factor and how we swing towards misery rather than fun. Ever notice that if your at an amusement park and a fight breaks out that it's like a boil of feeding fish that people are attracted to the fight and away from the fun. Check it out the next time your in a traffic jam. Do I look to see who is hurt and make my neck all rubbery as I pass or do I not? Dilemma! Having worked in the emergency field for a number of years most riots involve pepole that are led to fight that intensifies into a fool blown riot like a moth to a flame.
Most who want to start chaos get it going then walk away just for the fun of see what I started. The crazy part of it is that those who do this don't even realize they do this time in and time out it just is a way of life. Our prisons are filled with the emotionally unmanageable.
I generally look away and stay focused on my driving. Frankfishing
