Well after sending out my fathers day striper pics, I got an email requesting the scoop on my yak rack.  First things first.  I stole the ENTIRE idea from SCWAFISH.  Thanks Sean.

I used 4 10ft   2" sched 40 PVC, GLUE and (4) 90 elbows, (2) 5/16ths bolts, nuts and washers.  IT was real EZ.

Did you sew the straps yourself or can you buy them?

Chris - I'm sure you can use tie downs ( same one's you secure your kayaks with)

Sure, but they wouldn't look as nice.

I'm gonna make one of these.

They were made by my brother.  He does hot rod upholstery, and he owed me one.  If you get the width you want, any place that does heavy duty stitching could do it.  If you use tie downs that material is a bit thinner, maybe one could hand stitch it.  My buddy "Mahi Mahi" drilled three holes on each side and ran a rope through the hole and tied a knot on each side.  It looks good too.

That is a cool idea.  Climbing rope is pretty good looking.....

The idea is certainly not mine either...I saw it on the web and its been a great tool to have around.  Makes playing with yaks a LOT easier.

Joel... Thank you for taking and posting those pics.  Looks like a super simple design.  I like the fact you can add more arms and adjust the spacing as needed without the use of tools.
