For those of you who like to fish freshwater, Bass-n-Tubes has a complete tourney season (actually 4 different regions -- Travelers, Delta, Shasta, & Central), complete with Angler-of-the-Year and Tournament of Champions at the end of the season.  Most contestants fish out of kickboats (there are a few hard core tubers) but yaks are allowed.  Target is black bass (largemouth, smallmouth, or spotted).  Entry is usually $20 + $5 big fish option.  One caveat -- catch must be kept alive for weigh-in.  I use a homemade livewell; others use mesh or wire bags.  I expect to see a few of you out there next year!  (Mooch, MolBasser, etc.)

"BNT 2007 Travelers Region Schedule"
February 24-25 Nacimiento
March 24-25 Berryessa
April 15 Contra Loma
May 19-20 Clear Lake open
June 10 Middle River
July 21-22 Delta Open
August 18 Rancho Seco (Night)
September 16 Old River w/ Delta Region

I've been wanted to do one of there tournaments for years. I'd like to do  the Delta. Butnhat's actually the week end of my birthday and I was there last year. It was of course really hot.Coyote Lake Is a definite possibility.
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

Check the Bass-n-Tubes website.  They have a separate "circuit" just for the Delta and fish it every month from different launch points.  I'm sure one of those would line-up for you...

The Clear Lake Tourney sounds like a good one to start with--right after the Mendo Striper Tourney. I need to get a few under my belt early here so why not.

Yeah, Clear Lake Open May 19/20 -- the lake has been on fire this year, let's hope it holds up for another month.  This is a good tourney to "get your feet wet"; since it is an 'open' you do not need to be a member to fish it.  It will also have the largest field (and payout) of any of our tournies.  We usually get >60 entries.  They have a great raffle on Saturday night.  Let's get a good turnout from you kayak basser's out there (H20 Spider, FisHunter, Mooch, and the rest of you).  Camping sites are going fast (or already gone) in the M&M area 'cuz of the Catfish Derby the same weekend.

Hey, why not enter both?  Last year during the Open I caught a cat that must have weighed 15 lbs on my spinning rod w/8-lb test and a tube jig...

They are taking sign-ups now at the BnT site (no $$ needed until check-in).  I think they already have over 30 people...

Almost 60 anglers signed-up now -- hope to see some NCKA people there.  I'll post a report when I get back...
