Not going to make it this weekend so decided to go today. Forecast called for cloudy but is was bright blue sky.  Launched a greenhorn.  Water is still very brown with about 1 foot visibility.  Average water temp was 64 deg for most of the lake. The inflow being 54 deg and the highest I found was back in a shallow cove and was 68 deg.

Tried top water in the morning and got no action.  Tried a whopper plopper 90, walking baits, and a popper.  There almost no surface action all day even with lots of bugs on the surface.Caught 3 keepers at the Peninsula boat launch with a weightless wacky worm.  Dark colors with glitter/flake was the key and casting into the shade under dock/bushes.  While casting shallow I was getting short strikes and got tails bit off.  I think fish are in spawn mode but water too dirty to see. No hits on any moving baits. Tried bladed jig, crankbaits, jerkbaits, lipless, spinner baits.

While paddling around my FF showed fish holding in 12-18 ft and bait balls showed just above that.

Awesome, thanks for the report. I am trying to remember if the conditions were the same as last year. Does anyone remember. We were in Tahoe this past weekend and forgot how far Rollins is. Looks like I will be getting up early the day of the event.

Last year the lake was pretty much clear.  I know we saw bending fish along the bank.
