I fished the Rockwall yesterday, but I don't have anything exciting to report. I managed 6-7 shorts between 19-21". I ended up with one 22 and a quarter inch fish. That was my first ever keeper halibut. It's so small I didn't even bother taking a picture of it. What I do want to share is an underwater footage showing how much debris is on the bottom flowing with the tide. Most of the day I spent reeling in and checking my setup to make sure the bait is free of algae or moss or other crap. It was not a favorable condition to fish in. Perhaps once you see what the bottom looks like, you would adjust your rig accordingly.

The footage was taken at the deep channel (not the hole) about a mile out toward south SF. Was trolling at 1.5 mph in 20' of water.
Btw, I never felt that bite :smt003

Thats one of my biggest fears, casting out and not knowing if your rig is tangled or messed up in some way. Were you using anchovies? I've thought about switching to something like Gulp mullets because they don't get as beat up but I'm not sure if they work as well.

Gulp mullets definitely work but you'll get alot of shakers. They get ripped up easily after a few bites but still holds better than anchovies.

congrats on the keeper. the big one will bite soon!  those pesky shorts and the algea are very annoying indeed.  but they both seem to clear up if you head out deeper 20+ fow.  ive since changed up my rig to use 2 octopus hooks and do away with the treble as i feel the treble does more damage to the undersized butts.  ive been hearing good results from herring as they're larger attracting bigger fish
