I have a Terez that has a broken ring tip and need to replace it with another tip.  How hard is it to do it myself?  I think it's straight forward, but I just want to be sure .....

On my long range trip last year, I caught several yellowtail during a wide open bite on a rod with a very loose tip. Deckhand said, whatever else I do, keep the tip up in the air. Landed four YTs before someone re-glued the tip. Surprised that the tip did not separate completely when casting out a live bait. :smt001

Caught something huge from a boat.  The fish made a sudden run under the boat and that almost tipped me over the rail.  So instead of dumping, I loosen the grip on the rod and it went down and kissed the boat.  'never let go the rod but it did slam the boat ... the rod survived, the tip survived (the tip was about 6 inches under the water and it bent like I've never seen it), but the ring on the tip popped out.  I lost the fish and never saw color .....   this was an 8'  Terez heavy.

Like the other post mentioned, apply gentle heat, rotating around so as to not scorch the finish or soften the composite laminate.  Should come off pretty easy.  To put on the new tip, heat the tube section of the tip a bit, get some hot glue (from a hot glue gun) and fill the tube, then slip on.  On really skinny tips that I can't get the glue gun tip in, I slice off slivers of the glue stick and put them in the tube, heat with lighter and when it melts the tip will slide on.

I'd replace with the stock fuji K series alconite tip instead of the fix a tip kit (nothing wrong with the kit but thats a nicer rod).  I've been getting my components from Jon at California Tackle House, he's here in the southbay, might even be able to fix it really reasonably and quick.

Is Jon at CTH a member here?  Also, I think Khanh Custom is a member?  Could I get a contact from either these two via a PM?  Thanks a million folks!

Ahhhhh, ok.  I asked because we snapped 2 Terez rods on our last offshore trip during a hot YT bite (luckily I won a Phenix rod on that trip!).  Both covered under warranty and replaced.  My replacement is still wrapped up with tags.  Debating whether to keep or sell.

Sell it.  I think the Tallus line should do the job.  If in doubt, you can up the power.  Unless you are going to miss them ....
