So uminchu and I got up at 4AM to hightail it to Lake Sonoma for one last shot at the landlocked steelies.  We got there at first light to very breezy conditions that eventually turned into a 1-2ft wind swell.  Fishing was pretty slow.  I landed two smallies to 14in and one steelie at 15in.  Uminchu had a couple smallies to 16in.  All in all a satisfying day on the lake.  After we went to El Patio taquirria for giant burritos.  I got home slept the afternoon away.... I think that is always the best part.

Is there actually a season for those landlocked steelies?  I thought they could be cuaght all summer if you went deep enough.

The closest lake to me and I have yet to fish it this year!
My little guy has been warming up on baby bass and bluegills. His casting and setting skills are ready to be tested on Sonoma. We'll probably hit the Yorty area soon.

Inseine- I hear you on the afternoon naps, they are the best.
Mark- I've spent some great summer afternoons at Yorty, usually weekdays cuz it gets slightly pounded on the weekends. Nice place for a pic-nic and kids too.
Let's go this summer!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

wind swell were only 1-2ft???  I thought that was at least 4ft.  The waves were going over my bow some time.  In the early morning, the wind took me full speed to the west end.  When I'm coming back, I was paddling full power (no not air paddling Brian) but wasn't moving much...  Maybe, the wind swell were 1-2ft, but PB added some more swells...  They were going crazy specially those jet-skiers.  They were just give me some show right in front of me or on top of my troll...  The Bass weren't biting much.  I lost few small ones on crawlers, and I didn't see any of the Bass boats catching them all morning.  The trouts are right around 25ft as Mickfish said (Thanks Mickfish)!  They were pretty small but hit very hard & fight like maniac (it's nice change from Stripers).  Especially, the small one (around foot) hit so hard that almost took my pole out from the rod holder.  As soon as it hit it, it jumped out the water like a few foot.  He jumped out like five times & won't gave up for awhile!!!  That was a great fight!!!
