Ikijime "practice" 4/30

Would this work if you bonk the fish first?  I am thinking it would be a little hard to do on a bigger fish that is flopping around.

There are ways to hold a fish that minimize flopping but I do not see why an immobilizing bonk isn't a good place to start.

I got a question about bonking...not that kind of bonking.  The wholesome I-got-a-floppy-fish-in-my-yak-thats-about-to-take-a-chunk-out-of-my ankle-bonk.  To decommission a fish, is it more efficient and just as effective to drive a sharp blade through the brain area vs. bonk?  The first and only time I had a legal halibut I bonked it like there was no tomorrow and it would still flop around. 

That Ikijime stuff, despite being of Japanese descent, requires way too much patience than I have in reserve when I land a fish. I'm more like "Fack the pole isin the water, Fack the line is around my leg, Fack where are my scissors and pliers, Fack Fack Fack".  Just saying'

Honestly I've been bringing a hammer for a one wack deal...i used to pound a pretty good nail so i have a little target practice.
